I have a 14 week old German Shepherd. She is a little terror when it comes to biting people. She doesnโ€™t have a problem with biting and chewing on furniture, but when she does bite, she usually throws a tantrum when we correct her. Paws are being thrown, sheโ€™s whining and screaming, and she tries to get her teeth on us in whatever way possible. I know theres know way weโ€™ve taught her this is ok behavior. Weโ€™ve done everything from popping her leash, holding her collar, shaking the collar, taking whatever sheโ€™s biting away, and every combination of those things. Its gotten to the point where my gf, who was the main person who wanted our puppy, wants nothing to do with her anymore. Someone please help us. She has so much to do with her mouth, toys, bones, you name it. We arenโ€™t sure what to do, and i hate seeing my girl get so frustrated all the time.

I recently rescued a dog 13 months old and I have had him 3 months. He bites playfully and no verbal cues or any action will stop him. I resort to throwing a toy and then close myself up in a room. Other times i toss a treat into the crate and upon entering I close the door. After a few minutes he calms down . Will your approach help even though he is not a puppy?

Thank you, I've tried to give my pup her toys as a replacement for her mouthing but it doesn't faze her. I'm going to try your technique now and hopefully it'll work.

thank you SO much. thank you thank you thank you. I've tried ignoring and firm 'nos' but they just weren't working. This works so well! it feels a bit strange doing at first because I don't want to hurt his neck, but ultimately he can choose to end the behavior and discomfort whenever he wants, and to be honest, he seems in much better spirits when I do this than when I yell at him. so thankful for you!

I feel horrible. Honestly, i know how young my puppy is, but i end up giving him little smacks cause it actually hurts me and causes blood. I just been walking him for 2 hours to tire him out, but i also just want him to play safely and not hurt himself in no way or anyone else. I tried this video out, and i dont want an aggressive dog he going to get big

For the most psrt whenever I'm teaching my dog what is and isn't acceptable, I've found that once they understand "no" it becomes easier.
They want to please you. Pleasing you gets pets and treats and play.
Of course, they will still forget sometimes, especially when they're young. But you'll know they know they screwed up when you come home and they act sheepish. Or even if they don't right away, when you show them the thing they destroyed and their head immediately drops. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Of course, my last dog would almost always tear up one thing when I'd leave and put it at the door so there was no way I wouldn't see it. His act of rebellion. I had to start leaving something specifically for him to throw his tantrum with. And when he didn't he got to go to the park so eventually he finally did stop ๐Ÿ˜‰
He died a few months ago. Smartest dog I ever had. If he got nauseous during the night he'd get in the bathtub to throw up.
I never taught him that. No idea why he did it other than that was his time out spot when he wouldn't listen to me a few times when he was young.

Don't follow any "advice" from someone who uses fear and punishment as a "training" method. This method is pure trash, and dangerous.

I have an 8 week old puppy and any time I give a correction (either with a little prod in the side with my fingers or with a leash pop) it just makes my puppy mad/react. He snarles and goes for me even harder. What other methods are there?? Iโ€™ve got battle scars!๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚ Should I put him in the kennel like time out for a couple of minutes as a correction. I just really donโ€™t want to do anything to him thatโ€™s going to be irreversible or cause him not to trust me. I had a super reactive rescue dog for a few years when I was younger and she was extremely difficult to deal with. So I just really want this puppy to trust me.

As a trainer, there's one thing a lot of people dont do with new puppies/dogs. When you see them cheeing or playing with something you want them to chew on, rreard and praise them. Same with any good behavior, like laying calmly, especially on their bed, not reacting if someone walks by the house.

People often want to punish and correct things the dog is bot supposed to do. They forget to reward dogs for when they do something you want them to do.
