Lazarus was so matted and filthy he could barely move. His coat was thick with years of neglect, and the weight of it made walking almost impossible. He was rushed to a groomer, Jessica Kincheloe, who immediately got to work. At first, Lazarus didn’t want anyone near him. He was defensive, uncertain, and scared. But when he began to feel the relief of each snip and stroke, something changed.

Jessica removed an astonishing 33 pounds of fur. When it was all gone, it was like seeing a completely different dog. Lazarus still had some healing to do, both physically and emotionally. He wasn’t used to people. It might have been years since he had felt a gentle touch. But slowly, with treats and kindness, he started to trust again.
