That's where I bought my collar for my Great Dane. Herm Sprenger stopped him after he once pulled me on my stomach. After that, I said, "Nope!" I researched until I found the brand because store brands are cheap, can cut and aren't strong. He's a perfect gentleman now. I used slip chains on my American Eskimo dogs before but my Great Dane didn't respond until I got the Herm Sprenger.
My English Mastiff puppy has been wearing her prong collar since she was 4 months old. It is an amazing tool for communicating with her. She also sports an e-collar to foster on and off-leash obedience.
I really want to get one for my german shepherd mix, or at least something other than a flat collar. She does not lean into pressure at all. I am still trying to train her leash pressure and with simple commands like sit or down in a low distraction environment, she gets it. But when it comes to pulling on the leash, she actually leans harder into the pressure as if it's part of a challenge. Corrections feel impossible on the flat collar she has, I cant use it correctly and she has been conditioned to pull into it. The only setback is I cant afford it at the moment and it will take a lot of convincing to get my family to use it. I know it's not a miracle worker, it's a tool and i'll have to learn to use it properly. But at this point i feel it's the best option because she is so darn hardy and tough. She needs clearer boundaries, rules, and corrections and a flat collar just makes it a battle.
I wish that my prong collar worked for my dog but I clearly bought the wrong one. When I add a link, it’s loose enough for his to wiggle out of it but if I remove it, it’s too tight on his neck.
Before I knew any better, I thought prong collars were very cruel and they can be refused correctly just like any piece of equipment. But a professional trainer showed me how to use one and now they are part of the tools in my toolbox. I’m not using one with the dog I have now. Maybe I never will. But if the need arises, at least I know how.
any age can be trained with prong? i have a german shepherd puppy that’s just over 8 weeks, is it recommended for that age group or wait a little longer?
Before using a prong collar i used a slip leash and gosh, my dog would suffer so much till he understud that i wanted something of him, now with the prong he barely feels any disconfort. He is very fluffly so he only feels the slip when is already choking him.
i used the cheap knockoff brand. worked great. and i kept on using as just a walk collar. i just touch them and my two girl's went crazy as they got to go for a walk.
I know this is a yar ago video at least. I just got my first ever dog a pure bread holden retriever hunting line dont prong collars hurt the dog or couldnt the prongs pierce the neck? Could some1 let me know if your virsed in prong collars cause she trues to pull while walking or should i get a e-collar
Just looked it up and apparently they’re banned in the U.K., the RSPCA said : The repeated pressure of collars like choke and prong collars can cause severe inflammation of the skin and muscle, and in extreme cases can cause cervical spine injuries.
I had a prong collar for my red heeler we rescued him when I was 12. He was neglected and was an absolute handful even after years of obedience training. He has so much neck skin it didn’t effect him whatsoever when he was trying to go kill another dog. Too much dog for me at that age. Luckily we only had a few small incidents and he died of old age but o boy.
My Boxer puppy is 3 and a half months old. Is she too young for a prong collar? She runs to the end of her leash and knocks herself backward. I fear she will injure her neck doing that.
Prong Collars are illegal in Australia. I can't import them due to that fact. I wish I could, but I am going for an e-collar and the other collar you like to use. No clue why Australia banned Prong Collars, but in a country with so many untrained dogs it really doesn't surprise me.
I used a prong collar on my dog and now we can walk basically unleash ( he hold it in his mouth and place in my hand . No chasing of anything only 1 yrs old .Pit bull / Corso male big boy
I’ve watched so many videos about prong collar training. You helped me so much. I just bought it and use it properly which you taught me changed me and my dogs life in a min! 😳🙌🏻 We will keep practicing! THANKS A LIT❤️🐾
I’m trying to get one for my puppy. I don’t know what size to get he’s a 5 month old Great Pyrenees puppy weighing at 50 lbs. Can I get some guidance on that?
We are in Australia, and prong collars, shock collars, chocker chains etc are all illegal. So this put's us in a difficult position. Our 12 month old Kelpie X Bull Arab is very keen on jumping on people when we go on walks – a treat at this point just wont do – what can we do???
Thank you thank you 🥹 I used it on my pup for the first time, he just pulled so much less and got attentive to my motion. It was an automatic change from my dog. I didn’t do anything to train him at all except some treats on the go. Walking was so much pleasant, thanks to its right size to his neck. We’ll try tomorrow again 🎉🎉🎉

As a professional dog walker, I use them all the time. It amazes me how dogs are so well behaved with me but not their owners. Hmmmm

My GSD is an extreme puller. Do you recommend the 2.25 or should I start with the 3.2

On Amazon it said that this brand isn’t for light colored dogs. It can stain fur.

90% of this video was advertising a prong collar brand instead of explaining lmao
