I have severe agoraphobia and panic disorder and my boy is a psychiatric service dog. I'm so sick of being harassed by store employees because of how many people have fake service dogs. It makes it so much harder to go in public which is the reason I have a service dog in the first place, constantly being confronted by people who are uneducated about them. Every public place should educate their employees on service dogs, and employees shouldn't enforce something they don't understand.
I have a trainer for my Sd (Service dog) and yes she does help me,a lot,I have “anxiety , trauma , and attachment issues aswell ,quick question,no matter what age service dogs can go to school right? Because when my service dog is finally trained I need to bring her to school, and do I have to check in with my principal, and teacher?
they actually dont have to task for something medically, they can also task for mental disabilities. there are a bunch of different types of service dogs and they dont have to just be medical. youre so right tho, there are so many dogs who arent service dogs and ugh they make me so mad!!
Not everyone is Joe Trainer, the rest of the real world have jobs and if your living and working with a disability. You don’t really have 10-12 hrs a day to train the dog. The main reason why people want to question others about their service dog. They want to strip you of your rights of private property. You don’t need to respond when some dictator wants to know what “duty” they preform. The dog is private property and the task should remain private. The license is required for public access. Thus the private property owner is not under any orders and this is not a military state.
I love service dogs a lot but idk if I need one I wouldnt say I have a disability but I'm sensitive, have panic and anxiety attacked and before you say esa, they are never aloud anywhere which is kinda dumb honestly because their purpose is to help you anytime? I also have PTSD I think cause my parents wouldcfight almost every day
At 0.24…"perfect control while we're in here…" This is not a requirement! Simply under the handlers control. That’s the requirement. Leave "perfect" out of it. They aren’t robots. I might have missed something but I don’t see anyone else in the store.
I can’t stand these selfish people with these emotional support animals. It really diminishes public support for those who have a need for actual service dogs.
No, they myst be under the control of a leash or if the disabled person can't hold the leash thry must be under control of voice commands. I have no issues with you trying to educate the public but at least do it right. There are zero training requirements for a service dog other than that they perform that service you mentioned. Beyond that? They have to be on a leash, that's it.
That all said, they do have to be generally well behaved, such as not going to the bathroom inside, not attacking, or being a nuisance.
There is no such guideline or requirement under the ADA such as you describe for being "perfectly controlled".
There is no sharp distinction between a correctly trained service dog and one that still needs work. The problem is that "professional trainers." price themselves out of business. Every disabled person doesn't have parents who live at the golf course. The poverty level is also quite high among the disabled. That is why it is legal to train your own dog, contrary to what the elites claim.
thank you so much! my sons seizure dog was so well behaved people never noticed her half the time! we were on a plane, and it wasnt until getting off the plane and walking by (we wait until everyone gets off) that people went "oh i didnt even know there was a dog here!"
I live in Rhode Island and I have seizures epilepsy and I am looking for a service dog for myself, but I can’t really find any thing around here and if I do find them, they’re so expensive I was wondering if you know any around my area?
I had my service dog's leash attached around my waist so I could be hands-free. We had been walking around for some time when I looked down and the leash wasn't even attached to him. He was just healing next to me. Someone walked by me laughing at the fact that he wasn't attached to the leash. I did hook him up because one of his tasks was to right me if I started to fall. So he did need to be attached to me.
Service dogs don’t have to be under completely perfect control, just under enough control to not distract or hinder other people, and are able to be corrected if they do something they shouldn’t
Mine is still in training she isn’t there yet but she gets better gradually through repetition and exposure. She’s only seven months old so I’m pretty proud of where she currently is at in her training. For sure areas she can improve on but it’s gradual and comes together slowly not overnight
On the west coast here. Work at Costco and have a dog trainer who comes in all the time with his Cane corso. He told me he watches your channel. I asked him if I can do some volunteer work since I learn a lot from you.
I disagree. My house dog was 10 when he saved my life, after 3 months in hospital he then warned me b4 I would get dizzy, or collapse. He wouldnt beg at resturants etc. But was not as well trained as "professionally trained" dogs. But passed the cgc cert. Saved my life 2 more times b4 he passed away at 17. Im now training my next pup. He wont be as perfect as a professionally trained dog. But knows to do his job. If he looks at other dogs in store, I dont care, as long as he wont go over to them. He also gets petted and touched. If I collapse at work. He needs to be able to get a customer to come behind counter/backroom to help me, or call ambulance. My friends dog is the same. Most of our customers pet him to. It saved her life. She had sizure, hit metal sink while collapsing. On video 4 people came in ingored dog and left. Then a reg came in petted her dog and finally someone followed him to back room. She was on floor loosing alot of blood from head injury & unconscious. If her dog dog wasnt friendly and pettable. The customer wouldnt of realised something was up and followed him into private area of store to find her. Yet folk like many in comments would say our dogs are not "real service dogs" because they dont a bunch of commands that other ones do. YET THEY HAVE SAVED OUR LIVES OVER & OVER. THATS WHAT REALLY MATTERS
NOTHING worse than a person with a 3 pound Chihuahua in the basket of their shopping cart unless they're the ones who hold the mutt out over the meat counter so it can select what they buy..
I agree 100% the only thing I would add is dogs aren’t robots and they can mess up from time to time, you have to give them a break sometime and understand they’re only a dog❤ I don’t mean they’ll be messing up every few minutes or every a few seconds or every single day. I just mean once in a while they might be out of position or might forget to sit, etc. might get distracted or sniff at something extra smelly. They shouldn’t be barking or growling unless something really dramatic threw them off and immediately under control in any of those situations as soon as told to do so . If you hear them repeatedly saying something, and the dog is just not even noticing, that’s not a service dog .. or not a fully trained one for sure!
Thank you for this video! So many times I'm in public with my service dog (Great Dane) and she gets barked at constantly by fake service dogs because she's so big. She's still young and has puppy moments but thankfully never when it counts!
It's just regular training. As I have a rare mental disorder I trained my labrador just like a normal dog. She was my service dog. And knew what to do. But never registered her as a service dog. She wasn't allowed in every store. But I live in a small town. And all people know me by name. And my dog's name. She loved getting the attention. I never just walked into stored with her. When I was okay she would sit outdoor and waited. I sometimes see people with service dogs who behave not like a normal dog. And that is bad!
The fake service dog situation has gotten outta control! I've been a SD handler for 13 years, and it seems to get worse each year. My current SD of 7 years has had so many run ins in the last month alone to the point that I now expect to see a dog on every isle, I counted 4 dogs in target the last time I was in there including one that wasnt vested or leashed and the owner had to grab its head to stop if from charging my SD. Im always so proud of my girl at how solid she is and how she handles these kinds of situations, including the uneducated people who like to get in her face without even asking.

"He ain't thanos" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
My SDiT is fantastic but he gets so nervous leaving my side that I can't get him to place properly when out. 🙁
Just so you guys know the ADA does not require certification for service dogs
Thank you for this.

This dude sets the standard of dog training and how dogs should be. Well done.

I was beaten and tased because my dog DIDNT HAVE A VEST.
Im a RETIRED MARINE he is my service dog.
Thank goodness for a well trained service dog. Too many are poorly trained.

Too bad Personal Protection Service dogs don't qualify

That’s the biggest order I’ve ever seen 😯

Can a dog have more than one person teaching them?
Who's a good boy?

But aren't they supposed to be ON LEASH at all times too?
3 things
No dogs should go in before their owners! Any dog that goes through the door before their human automatically tells me who is in charge.

My dog wouldn't be able to wait that long, that's a good job on that one
