For people wanting to know why not to pick up dogs like this: canine shoulder joints and attached muscles are not good at suspending the dog's entire weight like that – dogs can't do pull-ups after all, and it's not just because they don't have thumbs.
The shoulder joint also isn't good at extending the leg out to the side in what would be the human equivalent of the T-pose,and that structural limitation is also relevant here.

You'd think that'd be common sense 😢 I'd be terrified to pick my dog up by his front paws like WHAT?!?!?
My boy jumps up to me like this on his own (when it's cold, he loves getting hugs and rubs to warm up), but I don't pick him up by front legs like that.
When I need to actually pick him up, I grab him by the chest and ribcage, he doesn't seem to be uncomfortable when I do this (he used to hate being picked up, but now he doesn't even squirm in my arms). He's a bit above your average dog, around 14-15 kilograms, so I think that kind of works.
