They act like children who are afraid of their parents when they mess up. And in both situations its really the parent/caregiver to blame for setting up the environment for the action to occur. Self reflection, not punishment.
The funny thing is that whenever the owners asked who was responsible for the chewing up or getting in the trash, I looked at my dog, said "you did it." and my dog literally looked at me and turned away like, "Yas hooman, I did it!"
Don't want to be a buzzkill but now that I've got a dog I realise that some of these dogs must have been left alone a really long time to do some of these things.
Went to my neighbors to let their lab out to pee. Open the front door and it looked like a snowstorm in the living room. It shredded a big decorative pillow to bits. Funny! I cleaned was best as I could and texted his mom the story. He's a good boy!
Some humans betray you, cheat and hurt you and won't feel any wrong regarding their behaviour instead they will blame you for their behaviour so the animals are showing more empathy than the humans
The contrast between cats and dogs is never more obvious than when they've done something they shouldn't do. Dogs show their shame/fear/regret with every fiber of their being while a cat is like "Yeah, I did it. You got a problem with that?" π

A cute video. I think the dogs get destructive because they've been left alone and got board or frustrated.

The dogs look so guilty where the cats don't look bothered at all. When I tell my cat off for doing something wrong she swipes at the dog lol.
When you name your dog Bandit heβs just living up to his name!!β€
