I have a dog. She killed her first litter of puppies by sleeping on them. So, now she is pregnant again. I'm scared, I feel like we should take care of the puppies, keep her close by and see how that goes. Thank you for sharing this video!!
We have nine newborn German Shepherd puppies that are now four days old. Some gained a few ounces above the 15 ounce average birth weight and then rebounded back down to birth weight. Some stayed at the same weight as birth weight over those 4 days. They are eating about every 2 hours. They are strong and vigorous. They only cry when hungry and can easily crawl over to feed themselves. In between feeding if they don't cry, they sleep and don't act hungry. We have a light bulb that keeps a small area at 85 degrees thats available when they aren't next to mom. We've checked rectal temps on a couple and the were 97-99 degrees. We have started a small amount of formula, about a tablespoon at a time in between feedings. The small amount is to prevent aspiration. The vet recommended a tiny bit of Karo syrup rubbed onto the tongue occasionally to keep blood sugar ok. We didn't get much information from the vet so far to tell us when we should be worried. How many days can they remain near their birth weight and still be ok? We want them to gain an ounce or two a day but we aren't sure what we need to do differently? I know it's possible they could have worms or something? Mom seems to be making milk. The puppies seem satisfied. We give the mom canned puppy food mixed with a regular dry dog food, a hard-boiled egg every day and some peanut butter for fat. We aren't sure what would require taking them to the vet? We have good vets and they didn't ask to see them yet. I know it's possible that the first few days they might not gain much? But I want to stay on top of everything. Most information I read is that they should gain 1-2 ounces a day after the first 24 hours.
My puppies have been having diarrhea kinda ever since day 1 theyβre on day 11 now and look strong im wondering am i supposed to mix the powder with the canned milk? Or mix the powder with water and then add that to the canned milk?
My baby Nalu (the mother) has just passed away couple days after giving birth and itβs really been so hard on me bc I lost her but Iβm here trying to keep the babies well and healthy
Thank you so much we recently got a puppy that is 5 days old and she lost her mom when giving birth to her. Iβve been looking through videos to make sure I raise the puppy well and healthy
My dog had a section on Friday evening. She hasnt slept since. She doesnt lay down to feed ….she just sits all day and night. Puppies are being fed while she sits but not sure if they are getting enough milk. I tried to help her lay down but she refuses. Anyone any advice?

Thank you so much! I wanted to click on this because of the facts and because your a veterinarian. You would know more than other people. (No offense) I saw this girl shoving a bottle into the puppies mouth and the puppy got taken away.
Hi can you help? My dog recently gave birth to a lil pup 2 days ago I notice that she/he doesn't drink milk from her mother she/he has been weak lately what should I do to keep him/her alive?
Think. That puppy needs a lot care under week five . When week start training and breaking bad habits. Soon at week 7 you see things happening week 12 to 14 you have almost a very well trained dog . If not watch online videos reread training books or sites than if still talk to vet if issues if not talk to a trainer at least someone who's trained a dog! πππππππππ
