I have a 9month old malinois who I can’t walk without this prong . He’s been pulling on the prong as of yesterday , he’s stubborn but getting a refresher tomorrow morn lol
I have a 80lb American bully. I’ve watched this and practiced for 2 days. There’s so much difference in him! He’s the type of dog to greet any dog or person. He would pull me and ignore that he’s even on a leash. Now I can stop him and have him focus on me. He sits just like a prince!
You make it look SO easy. Tried this with my 11 week old puppy, who we walk on our property since he hasn't had all his shots yet, and after the first u-turn he ran between my legs and nipped my feet. I stood still and he stopped and attempted it again. Same result. I know part of the issue are my mechanics (holding the leash and popping properly, treating at the correct time among other things) so I will keep at it.
Help! I tried this with my german shepard and staffy mixed breed puppy that is 4 months old and she just gets overwhelmed and start jumping on me when i try to do corrective U turn. Tried it in few walks now and only failed every time..she starts biting me and pull in other direction.
I am looking for help to get my Boston terrier Sophie. My wife cannot even walk her because she is so strong that I am afraid she is going to take my wife with her. Do you think this will work.
New problem for you. My dog likes sleeping in the van. He can Watch the whole street from there. Just started to train him to be outside more, but he doesn't like being inside the fence.
I've tried similar techniques but was not getting results. My 2 year old Doberman was a horrible leash puller even with a prong collar under the neck. I had made corrections before sparingly but it didn't really seem to do the trick. It wasn't until I tried this U-turn and correction in combination with the stop and correction that I instantly noticed a difference. Wow. Great video!
I got a prong collar as a recommendation of a friend I haven’t had a chance to work my pisset hound yet. Half pit half basset. She was a rescue with issues but has received lots of love but still a strange strain of resistance to listen and receive encouragement. But I’m not giving up I’ll try this and hopefully succeed.
I did this with my dog it worked well until he saw people and wanted to eat them. He didn't care about food or me he just wanted to go after them. When I would try to use leash to pop when he wasn't focused on me which then frustrated him so he started going after the leash and trying to tug a war it
Holy shit. I just did this with my 4 year old who has been pulling on the leash and FINALLY something that works!! I followed the direction to the letter. A few pops, and a few whines later and he immediately fell in line. No more pulling, followed me when I turned, the whole lot.
Thank you SO SO much for helping me get my big guy in order. I feel like I will finally be able to take him walking past other dogs in the future. Thank you very much for the hope and clear directions!
I have a rescue pit Bull. Not sure of her age because she is a rescue. She has been with me almost 7 years and it has gotten very hard to walk her. I moved to Myrtle Beach and I live in an apartment so needless to say there are dogs all over. Angel wants to pull and not listen to me. I just really need help and advice. All she does is choke herself and almost makes me fall.
One of the best trainer in the world, really nice to see how you train dogs, I am Navin from Mauritius, i have a six months cane corso, still struggling when taking her for a walk, will put into practice exactly how you’ve done it in the video but unfortunately I don’t have a prong collar infact I have a choke collar will that be ok according to your experience as a professional dog trainer ?
I got a 2 year old German shepherd she’s not food motivated at all but she still was learning and getting better but my problem comes with distraction she starts barking like crazy at ppl and other animals walking by. She’s friendly but I don’t want ppl walking by thinking she’ll attack them when she’s just excited. I just need a way to keep her focus on the walk and stop getting riled up when seeing something or someone. Is there any suggestions?
My husband and I did this technique with our 140 lb Newfoundland, he is 1 year old, he is a powerful dog, and has literally taken me down by pulling, I actually stopped holding the leash on walks only my husband, but the walks were miserable, but he needs his walks to burn off that energy, and get his exercise, THANK YOU Garret for this video, we are well into this training, we ACTUALLY look forward to our walks now, great video, stick with it, it works!

Why does this have to be with a prong ? Jw ? 😊
Amazing. This actually works. And I didn’t even use a prong collar or treats/clicker.
I’ll use those on the next walk or two to really hammer my puppies training home, but wow I cannot overstate how effective this is

What does one do if the dog is not food motivation?
Great work, you can clearly see the difference from the beginning to the end of video.

I'm a dog trainer at my petstore and we are not allowed to use prong collars! 🙁 Any other one you recommend for "positive enforcement?
