I just came here to say you are absolutely full of sh*t. I've been trying all the "tips" and so-called "techniques" in your videos for a couple months now and they have had precisely zero, nadda, zilch, NO effect in correcting behavior. Biting? Yep. Still thinks that is the perfect game. Jumping? Yep. Won't stop no matter what. Recall? Not a frigging chance. I JUST chased her down for nearly an hour – AGAIN – trying to get her to come but she still thinks it is a game. The only thing that ALMOST works is a gentle leader harness for pulling on walks and all it does is stop her from pulling as much. Still won't get her to proper loose-leash walk.

You are wonderful!!! I have a 4 month old Doberman Pinscher. She jumps softly on me when she gets excited. I want to start her training asap so she’s good by the time she’s bigger. She’s huge already.
My one year old black lab is very smart but sensitive. She is super hyper, jumping and also resource guards, she is also very bad at barking. Her hair sticks up and growls, she will jump on you and nervous pee on you. She has been running down are driveway and doesn't listen to are recalls. My mom and I are working with her but it's not really working. This has happened ever since she ripped open her stitches and had to do surgery.Pls tell me what I need to do.
Hey Joel, I love your videos and have been watching for a long time. I was wondering if you can do a video on dogs/puppies meets cats? Not sure if it's your thing but would love some tips on how we can introduce a new pup to our 5 year old tabby!
I managed to fix my dog's jumping on me by pushing him away and tell him no, then make him sit and cuddle him while he's sitting. But it only works when we are alone. If my husband is home too he gets so excited to see us both together that he seems to forget all the training and keeps jumping on us both. Being 6 months pregnant I really can't have a big dog jump on me without control… Any idea how to fix this? He won't even listen to the sit command when my husband is in the room with us 🙁
Joe, how would you address this with a small breed? I can't "knee" him to stop it, but he won't stop jumping on people, especially everyone else except me. When others allow this behavior, he thinks it's okay to do it to me. I am disabled, and he has already knocked me down. I now understand that he isn't the problem, but the others who won't enforce anything and don't take the time to train him as I have. Please help. I promise I have not seen one video with a dog this small (we have had him since he was nine weeks old, and he'll be two next month) still behaving as if he were nine weeks old-, it is so bad I dare say you haven't met this type of challenge. No matter how much he is walked or played with, he wants attention 24/7. He literally does not sleep because he has to see and be with you for every move. This is no exaggeration! He is a dog who does not sleep, and it drives me wild as I suffer from insomnia. It is very annoying to barely move your hand to reach for the remote, and he literally jumps for attention. Again, please help. I am willing to pay if only for one session.
I tried kicking my mastiff off when he jumps on me and I find that it just makes him more excited. He loves the battle. So instead I do your other method where I grab his collar and force him to sit and calm down. And that has worked. I make sure I always “win the battle”.
Hi Joel, can you do a video on slip leads? My trainer recommends them for walking my reactive dog, but I'm not sure I'm using it correctly when applying pressure or issuing a correction for unwanted behavior. My Husky simply ignores the pressure and does whatever she wants anyway. Any tips?
Hello, thanks for the video. A little off this topic but I have a 2 y/o dog (mini Goldendoodle) that I want to train to go in the garage on a puppy pad. I know it’s probably against what you preach but try to look past that for me 😉. We did this successfully with our previous pup but this one isn’t getting it.
We keep him in a crate at night and when we can’t watch him but he still hasn’t connected the idea that he needs to let us know he has to go.
He will hit a belle when we tell him to go to the garage (7 out of 10x’s) but it’s not consistent enough. He gets little cheese “treats” when he goes but how do we have him alert us when he needs to go? Thank you. 🐶
Hey, I need help with my rescue dog. She mouths almost all the time and nothing seems to be working. We don't have enough money to take her to training. Any advice?
Can you do a video on unneutered males meeting in public. I'm never sure whether I should dominate my dog (shout clap hands) so he knows I disapprove and I decide who he should challenge, or walk away and withdraw my support. I do the latter at the moment. The "boy" have a few words with each other then "diplomatically" walk away from each other to save face without actually engaging. Can be a real peoblem when this happens outside a cafe.

What if he knows he won't do it with me, but with strangers passing by he tries to jump on them? Can't exactly get them to knee him on the fly.
That GR is a smart sweetheart…..so smoochie. You could train him with just affection as reward so easily ♥️♥️♥️😊
Oh my 5 month old GSD working line doesn’t stop that and I have done similar. It takes time. I’ve done exactly the same.
Unfortunately this technique will not work on dogs like pitbulls.

Great training and explanations 👏
Also, where is this Golden from? 😍 He’s gorgeous.

Golden retrievers find humans intoxicating. Like cats with catnip.
Connery, what lovely boy eh?
What happened with the German Shepherd? Inquiring minds want to know.
