Hi from South Africa. Friend of mine has an Anatolian shepherd male, neutered. He is huge and never had any proper training. The owners are oldish and really can't manage him on a leash. He was given to them several years ago. Will your method work on him? They won't agree to prong or e-collars. Poor guy is bored, on a very small property, never goes for any real outings, getting seriously overweight. He is good natured but suspicious of anything new and gets stubborn and rumbles under his breath if feeling uncertain. He's about 6 years old.
And to think garret and his team post this information for us to educate ourselves for FREE! Thank you sir and everything you do for dogs and their owners world wide. 🍻
I have a standard bull dog she is one year old similar size to the dig in your video she is terrible on her lead as she has never been taught so is pulling with all her force so i eill give these tops shown a try with her also when i got her she was letting me put her harness on which she still does to a certain extent of getting it iver her head but when i go to clip it under her front paws she gies crazy out if control barking and just genuinely struggling do you ir any of your subscribers have and information on stopping her di this thanks in advance from all the way un Edinburgh Scotland 🏴🏴🏴
My goldendoodle puppy is 7 months and afraid of everything all of a sudden. She only pulls when we are out in public cuz she tries to pull me back to the car
Question – after learning/ training with the prong collar ( and the dog is walking well), do you ever go back to a normal collar? If yes, how soon is too soon?
As a dogwalker who only spends a fraction of her time walking a dog compared to the owners/pet parents, do you think this method 1) will work for me, as the non-pet parent? 2) can be undone by the pet parent after the fact if they are letting the dog walk wily-nily?
3) can be easily reinforced by me, or will they be confused by the two walking styles?
Before: My dog keeps pulling on the leash and I can't get him to stop, he just always wants to be in front even though he doesn't know where we're going, He's a cane Corso and Pitbull mixed, Really loves to bite people who touch my things, touch me, his best friend (My mom's dog she is 4 years old) or himself! I don't know his age but I know it's not been a year yet.
What if instead of my dog pulling, I’m pulling. I have a 2.5 month old cane corso. I can’t tell that she enjoys being outside. She’ll resist until she realizes there’s no going back home. The previous owner just put her out to do her business and picked her up and brought her in immediately. She’s a spoiled brat. But after all the resisting, once we’re far enough, she’ll walk normally. I’m still working on keeping her attention on me and recall.
My dog is on leash as he doesn't have a good enough recall yet. He doesn't pull or have much interest in other dogs (squirrels and rabbits yes!). But today we had three dogs off leash coming running over and bothering him. I try to keep the leash loose but I don't know whether to stop, try and keep walking or try to get in between him and the other dogs – he is pretty scared. Any advice? Obviously the other owners are telling me they just want to play blah blah blah.
I took in a 4 years old Briard from the shelter. It's like he hates me, sometimes he walks fine and then mostly he is fighting the correction and the whole working together idea. I'm pretty tired and not sure we both are a good match. He can even be aggressive when he knows I'm putting on a collar he didn't like.:(
Asked my dad to try it because i have two dogs and one is a mix of three and i have a rescue who is a yorkie and we think is a mix with a chihuahua and it shows that because on walks, she is non stop pulling and as soon as we get home, she is already at the water bowl so definitely will ask him to try it and they are both girls called bella and angel(angel is not an angel lol).Bella isnt to bad but she does get distracted and i will start bringing treats to reward her for listening to me, not pulling that much and not getting distracted. Ill updates if it works
Hi i love your video and I’m learning so much from you. I have a question. Id like to get prong collar for my 6 months old Bernese but she is still growing and now she is 54 lbs. Which size do you recommend? I’m currently living in Japan and shipping will take a while to get here so I’m debating getting between 2.25 or 3.0 for her.
I have 2 Belgians, a 3yo who is my golden child, and a 10 mo old that's stubborn as a mule. My older is fully trained, excellent leash manners and recall, but I used this technique to train the puppy, and it worked like a charm.
My issue is that while they're perfect individually, when I walk them together it's like driving a team of horses with no carriage under me. They are both ultra competitive (only with each other) and want to be the leader. I usually give my older the lead spot bc I know she's not going to wander and sniff everything in sight, and she knows the turn commands. Well start put at a decent pace, but within 100 yards, they've turned into frigging sled dogs, and this technique only getsxthem.back in place for a few seconds before they're fighting to be HBIC again.
I walk them individually most days, but my older is also my medical alert dog for bp issues, so I need her by my side more during physical activity than in the house. She still pays attention and has alerted twice during tandem walks, so leaving her home is really not a safe option. Any ideas on getting them to function as a unit on the walks?
One thing I don't particular like about these videos that they always use the perfect dogs with perfect temperament. I've been doing this with my dog for about 2 weeks now every time I pull she gets scared and just freezes up.
If I turned, I would literally be dragging my dogs because they would resist and even sit down if they dont want to go that way 😢 do I just pull them back still?

Works perfectly without prong collar.
Do you let your dog sniff during walks or his focus has to be on the handler at all times?

I have an American Akita/ Rottweiler mix and I wonder if this will work with his bullhead stubborn ass

I'll come back with an edit on the progress. 🙏🏽🫡
My dog yanks himself while crying to the top of his lungs when I put a leash on him. How do work around that😐
What to do about spinning on a leash?
