all animals need a safe place to feel secure and hide themselves if they want. the crate isnt a punishment and shouldnt feel like one. it should feel like a place they could escape from even you if they want to be alone
You literally said never to reward them from the front of the crate, then two seconds later you’re putting treat in from the front! Like, be consistent!
My puppy goes in her crate if she's tired or at bed time, she just goes in she was used to it being with her mum and siblings, I never close the door on her, I don't have to.
Does anyone actually make a video with a non trained dog 😏😏 like seriously all these videos are just with a trained dog who understands literally everything!! We need you to use a new puppy to see how it can be done!!!
My dachshund Chloe loved her crate. Even when she was old, she would go in it when She was afraid. She rode in it when we traveled and hardly ever made a sound. At 14, she went to doggie heaven. She was my heart.
Good video. I took it a step further and used my child with the crate training. I didn’t was my mastiff thinking that was only his space. Little kids play everywhere and the dog will need to share that space without conflict. It worked.
The people who think they can use the crate as a sort of “time out” or punishment… but don’t understand why they can’t crate train their dog to enjoy being in their crate… like you can’t help but 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️those people.
To be honest myself and my girlfriend have just been putting our puppy into his crate for bed time each night. Havent had to use any treats/food. He whined for a minute at first, but now he goes in and settles right away, we give him a toy or two and cover it with a blanket
Why does no one talk about how to contain the dog undergoing crate training while you are out of the house or at work (assuming work is longer than errands). Crate training is easy, the problem is how to contain him so we dont retramatize him to thinking the crate is something to escape from till then when we have to leave the house without him. Sadly even for well behaved dogs (he isnt obedience trained yet but is fine for going to walk around Lowes etc) the world right now doesnt allow for them to accompany us until crate training is complete. The only suggestion ive seen is "have someone stay with him" i dont have anyone who is able to babysit the dog when we have to go out, and "doggy daycare" is out of the question.
I'm so blessed to have found a sweet little doggie who is mellow and quiet and enjoys his crate. I'm working on his house training and his mild sep anx, (he was a stray from the pound found on a porch thin as a rail so there's hardship with being left alone or not knowing if he's going to get food). I appreciate your lessons thank you so much!
im a litle confuse, dogs with more than 3 months can learn, understand something going to cage, but what about 6 weeks? just put him in cage when we go sleep? then when will make 3 months he dont worry anymore about cage because its now conforte, problem 6 weeks cant learn neither snack for learning. how?
I’ve been trying the “quiet”, the tapping, and the long line leash rattle, nothing is stopping my dog from barking, and every time I try to praise her she’s barking again so it’s just this mix of “quiet” and tapping, sometimes even the long line, and nothing is working, I’ve been trying to add value to the crate the second I got her, she goes in when she wants but leaving it locked it’s like “time to bark” and idk what I’m doing wrong, I need help, really I need help
My puppy is about 7 weeks old. She was in the closed crate at night in our bedroom since the first day we brought her home. That was 3 weeks ago and only at night, locked. During this video, I brought her crate onto our porch, she immediately went in. 😊 From now on, I’ll bring it wherever we are. Btw, she is a rat terrier.
Most people are just putting their dog in a crate for eight hours while they're at work. Literal torture. In many European countries, crates are illegal. If you care about your dog at all, which you probably don't, get a playpen instead. You can put a doorless crate inside the playpen.
The dog I adopted was the opposite. Would go in the cage and bark to no end. The prior owners kept her in one more than 12 hrs a day😮 while at work. I just did away with the cage let her have free reign of the house/yard no barking and can't stay out of my lap😂.
2.5 days with us at 8 weeks old. Shaking my head. She’s such a sweetheart and then goes Tasmanian Devil on you biting, lunging and biting. She doesn’t like the crate yet but will be quiet and sleep 5.5 to 6 hours at night with her Snuggle Pup and crate covered. Had my dear Sadie, also a Jack Russell, for 18 years so it’s been a while since the puppy mode. I feel like I’m failing her.
If I work from home, should I put the crate in the office? So he can be with me while I’m in there? Overall we spend a lot of time in the living room and his bed so far (3 week’s owner) has been in the living room. My office is really big so hoping it would be okay in the office for space purposes too
Hello @McCannDogs I need your help. I got my puppy ( Bernedoodle) of 17 weeks, 4 days ago. He is extremely shy and scared, He doesn’t take any treat or food whatsoever. He doesn’t walk anywhere just lays down with his head down most of the time. How can I crate train him without physically pushing him inside of the crate? He had a medium wired crate which he broke out of since he is a big dog. I really need help because I want to train him right but it will be hard since he is so shy and scared of everything and everyone. Treats or food aren’t motivation for him and neither is praise. 😔 What can I do?
How do you train a 5 month old golden retriever that the previous owner kept it locked for majority of the time and now its hard for the new owner (my gf and i) to crate train it because its already traumatized by being kept in the crate by the past owner?
Overnight, should my puppy's crate be in the bedroom with us or in a separate part of the house? I've seen trainers advise both ways, but I don't know the reasoning behind either one. Thank you.

I dont help people unless they ask. To many weirdos out there
Thanks!
My 8 month old pug has a crate but never goes in it she sleeps with me in the big bed 😊
I do not have a crate for my 4 months puppy. I didnt think it is necessary

Just got a puppy and I’m definitely utilizing these. Videos

I own dogs for more than 40 yrs. NEVER was one of my dogs or puppies locked in a cage.
I am proud of it! 👍

Do you have a training video for blind and deaf SENIOR dogs please.
Great videos! Thank you.

None of these tips work not one
The biggest mistake people make is "USING A DARN CRATE"!!!

Awesome information videos! Getting a maltipoo in a few weeks & I am binge watching everything! New subbie- so glad I found you 🐶🐶🐶💜💜💜💜
My pup is quite hyperactive it’s quite hard to get her concentrate during the crate opening training. What to do?? 😭

Does this training apply to 4 year old staffies?😢

My puppy hates the crate, starts crying/howling right away, and doesn’t stop

Yes I’m door dashing now 😂
What are you using as training treats?
How often do you play the gameswith thepuppy?
How do you do all this with bonded brothers? They can’t seem to be apart for 1 minute!
my three month pup yells during the night intermittently in his crate?
Hold on here let see you try that with a brand new 8-9 week old not a dog that is trained already c’mon man
But that puppy is already crate trained because I noticed the puppy diesn't come out of the crate unless she says "ok".
It's too bad your not doing this with a puppy that hasn't already been trained.

"I have never done any crate training with this dog"
2 minutes later…
"Here is some previous footage of my dog coming out of his crate"

Im struggling with training. My frenchie puppy is not food motivated all all. No treats work 😅
