Well ofcourse breed is important but it's also their education. Just like no human is the same, no dog is the same either. Every dog needs a personalized training. Some dogs do best on positive reinforcement, some dogs work on treats, some dogs need to be handled quite strict. What works, what doesnt work, is for you as mentor and pet parent to find out. Don't do what you think is best for them but listen and watch and they'll show you what's best for them.
Absolutely My working GSD knows nothing but love from me and my Mrs, and has only ever had obedience training. But he's unapproachable on the street. You have to know what your dog was bred for, and what its ancestors were bred for (if its a newer breed)
If you don't know dogs, ask a dog trainer for advice, never a breeder (unless you know them personally)
I never blame the dog for bad behavior or being a dog, I blame the owner. Understand your dog and its purpose. For example, I have a border collie, beautiful dog, and she has a tendency to nip at people's heels when they rough house and does same with other dogs. I've been working on her with it, though, and she struggles but won't nip at other dogs now.
In my opinion, there is nothing more terrifying than a stubborn, independent, one-person dog breed. I love dogs, but I am absolutely terrified by German Shepherds and Chow-Chows. And, sadly, in my experience with many people as a person that once ran a state park, I see the German Shepherd as the "pickup truck" of dogs, a symbol of masculinity and toughness, and I always witness the same old thing. Those dogs owned by such people tend to be the most aggressive in my experience. The wrong people tend to own that specific breed because of their masculinity complex and image. It's scary.
Mine likes alerting. He likes to chase a bit but it's mostly to drive things away. He quickly loses interest and can't be bothered to retrieve 95% of the time, or attack… except rabbits.
I’ve had German Sheps, pit bulls, jack russels, staffs, corgys, boxers, a colly and a frenchie and the one thing they have in common is an inate nature for affection.
The boxers would fight other dogs and occasional bite people if they got too close. They had both come from owners who were abusive and would muzzle them. The others were gold, but I see where your coming from
Reminds me of my grandparents dog Hank, who was given to me when he was 6 since they moved into a senior-living condo.
I loved him with all my heart but he played the role of “mouth breather” so well 😂 there would be times where he would just blankly stare out the window and our other lab Mojo would just bark at him for being too quiet lmao. He wasn’t a loud dog but when he did bark it sounded similar to that of a hound, damn near deafening.
One day my mom was in the house and he brought a squirrel in that he had killed, no one saw it happen so we couldn’t figure out if he killed it or not. Months later I was looking out the window and saw a squirrel eating bird seeds on the ground, and behind him was my dog creeping and stalking this thing like a tiger in the brush. It was an unforgettable experience, and I regret alerting the squirrel instead of letting my guy have his moment 😕
Blessed we got to have him for another 7 yrs before he got kidney disease. Rest easy big guy ❤
Literally having this argument with a buddy about huskies. Brother keeps saying they are just runners(as in they run away) and i keep telling him you have an energetic breed. No dog is a "runner" just needs proper training.
Yeah, but I’ve got a miniature Labradoodle. It was supposed to be really friendly and it is to me and me alone, but he also gets unpredictable. He doesn’t seem to enjoy this, but he also can’t seem to stop himself and I’ve tried to get trainers and at least a dozen trainers took one look at him one look at me and then refused to work with us.

The only trouble is with factual and correct story is that you can not factor in the “Stupid” of way too many humans… Dogs will be Dogs… And humans will be fcukwits.!!!. What a shame for dogs..🐕
Pisses me off when people get dogs specifically for the breed and they have no idea what they're getting themselves into no prior experience no aptitude whatsoever. Like yeah super cute as a puppy but then they grow up and those genetics start kicking in😂
Exactly A pitbull isn't a bad dog My mates got one and it's the sweetest thing especially with his 4 year old But every person is shocked when they hear he's got a pitbull and are like this dog is gonna kill your baby
Im at college and live in a school apartment, and the apartment just across there is a girl with a "I think german Shepard" in there, and I swear it jumps at and barks at everyone when she goes out to take it on walks and she has too actively restrain it with all her might because its obviously a big dog! It chased after me once! Thank god it couldnt climb without help, people really need to train their dogs a lot better

Yes you white ppl train them to kill Africans.that is why we dont like Dogs,
…”purely economic conditions 😓…”
Dogs aren't too bad, dog owners are the worst people though.
I love your "mate" 😍❤😂😊

He is correct by 100%
Exactly 💯
I've always had boxers. In my experience, they would never make it in the wild. I dont think I could handle a real dog.
Your dog is on guard for tennis balls.
So it’s not about dogs enjoying it – it’s about selective breeding. Get a mutt people
Also, alot of people are ignorant about what each breed was bred for.
Theirs a time and place for each behavior. You just need to decide what behavior works for you, your family and the life you and your live.

do human breeds also have different histories & evolved temperaments? axing fo' a fren'. o/
I didnt know Eddie Hall became a farmer.
Which is why pitbulls and other killer breeds should be banned

my Patterdale Terrier is the sweetest most affectionate dog ever, but when she goes out side, she will kill any living thing she finds
cats better

Most Americans who can't get their own lives together go straight for Putbulls. Living vicariously….
There are no bad dogs.
There are many bad people, who treat dogs as objects, and then blame the dog when it behaves like a dog.

chihuahuas are small so they dont kill us all with that attitude

My dogs kill lots
But they are small
Pitbulls…..
Siberian Husky has left the chat
I disagree with you kind sir. Pleasing his owner is his first priority, ball comes next
While you’re talking away your mate is looking for something to retrieve.
He’s a handsome man.
You’re speaking truth sir.

Generally not bad dogs, just bad masters.
Dogs will do what dogs do and WE did that to them.
Dog (minus pitbull): genetics
Humans: only socioeconomic factors
The only trouble is with factual and correct story is that you can not factor in the “Stupid” of way too many humans…

Cough Staffys cough cough
We need to pass competence training and tests to drive a vehicle or own a gun in Canada. I’d like to see one established for owning certain breeds.
My Retriever is broken. He hates retrieving.
Even my tiny little guy, the enigmatic one-eyed Wink, chases down birds and squirrels–often at my urging. Pigeons are gross.
Translation: Pitbulls

Our dog Bentley loves burying and hiding things. He's part terrier.
