I feel bad for my dog. My dad abuses her, like whacking her, chasing her, throwing her in her cage, and even grabbing her by the back of her neck like a kitty and yells, screams, cusses at her, and more. Somehow she behaves around him, but only because she is scared of my dad. I choose to stay positive ❤
And use your voice right (seen this with many kids talking to dogs as well). If you talk to them in your baby voice while trying to keep them from doing something/make them do something they won’t get it. Speak loud and clear when giving commands to make them respect you, don’t scream.
I get that you want to be nice but a dog doesn’t understand all the words you’re saying they learn the sounds of the commands you teach them so saying „Oh you little fluff ball, will you sit down for me please?“ for example will probably make them wag their tail or give you kisses cause your voice sounds nice and calm/playful. If you want them to sit down teach them that movement with ONE word (e.g. „sit“), maybe pair it with a gesture like pointing up with the index finger if it helps your dog understand it better (useful if your dog goes deaf when older) and say this one word in a calm but firm voice. This will be the easiest way for your dog to understand what you want from it and also keep in mind to choose one word (or two) for every command and stick with it. Changing it up will only confuse your dog and potentially yourself as well if you forget the right command.

Unpopular opinion but dogs don’t understand english very well and they are animals and in the animal kingdom they are disciplined by vocals and physical force. Sometimes you have to speak their language but it needs an immediate correction or the dog won’t understand why they were attacked
Yo I’m Jamaican so you know I’m rough so it is normal to hit your dog some Jamaicans don’t do it but my whole family does and I just feel like Americans call every thing abuse because if I’m disaplining my child because there being rood or bad Americans call it abuse and I can go to jail and in Jamaican schools you the teachers can hit the students with a ruler but in America you can’t because it’s considered child abouse and the majority of Jamaicans hit there dogs

I yell at my dog when he bites to let him know that I’m in charge, but I also award him with treats. When full grown he will be very large and I can’t let him jump on kids that want to pet him in public

Actually, if you yell the dog will stop in its tracks just to know that it’s doing wrong because my dog knows every time I yell at him. He’s doing something wrong then when I tell him not to do it next day, he doesn’t do it. I give him a treat
