HELP. We have two young dogs, both around 7 months old, who will not stop jumping up. They do it to everyone in the household CONSTANTLY. We have tried ignoring them, tried praising them when they aren't jumping, tried telling them off and kneeing them to get them down. NOTHING is working 😭
Im going to say it once, and only once, just because a method doesn't work as great for your dog, doesnt automatically make it a bad tactic, ALL dogs are DIFFERENT, they are NOT the same, AT ALL, if you arent a licensed dog trainer, and have only taught one dog to behave, you are NOT a dog trainer, im talking to everyone saying stuff in the comment section
"See how she didn't make contact there, you gotta watch em" 😂😂😂 what am i watching? This dog was not taught how not to jump. She was taught to sort of sit but mostly jump for food. When the food is gone, right back to jumping… no biggie. Horrible training.
The dog just practiced jumping numerous times as you were “teaching her. You reinforced her for the chain: I jump, I sit, you give me goodies. And she got to practice something that is inherently reinforcing. Not much more fun than a good jump at your face! This was not a good example at all!!!
My dog jumps on my wife and son, but he will not do that with me. The most he will do is sniff my clothes when I get home. Also all the tricks I taught him he will only do for me. If I call him he walks slowly toward me, almost like he is scared. But I have never hit him nor yelled at him
My dog will easily go 25 hours with a full bowl of food waiting. In fact all of my dogs through the decades have had little to no food drive. They always had food available to them. Making their meal dependant upon meeting specific goals always seemed arbitrary, therefore the dog would lack the trust that they would just get fed.
Waiting for the dog to sit can take along time to teach a dog to be calm. Teach off- correcting the dog then redirecting with a sit worked better with all my dogs.
That is not good methodology. Do not retreat from this behavior. The dog (as showcased about 7 times) will keep persisting. Watch Cesar Millan videos. He stops jumpers quickly with almost no force or noise.

He didn't tell us anything!
I've taught my puppy to wait for her meal he has to sit and wait til I say ok. Ill transition this to other ways to learn not jumping
Or u could just correct the dog and it’s done in 5 min

Thanks❤
Doesnt seem like a very successful method….you won’t always be carrying treats.
All this does is teach your dog that they jump, sit then get a treat for it.
Rinse and repeat
