I love your info. But this is incorrect, rottweilers are very easy to train if you start early and consistently. They are smart and the training is needed. Have 1 who learned all.basic commands 7 plus by 4 months. Even getting help if you aren't able to train them…they are great dogs. Have 1 boy now…3yr 126-130 lbs. Smart and bright…2nd rottie. Have also owned GSDs in the past. Smart just need training early on, mental stimulation and exercise
Thinking about getting a Rotti. Was gifted a Dogo Argentino when I was abroad and she was an absolute beaut. Brilliant around everyone, except those who we didnt like. Really want a Rotti now that im back in the UK
The only reason the dogs are so hard to train is because they haven’t been breeded properly, take a professional trained rottweiler they are breeded so that they have a perfect prey drive, hunger drive and the basic needs of even a human fight flight etc. And honestly you just need a good trainer someone whos dominant but loving towards the animals someone who cares and trains them for their own benefit not just themselves
Eh? It's taken me about 3 attempts to train my rottie commands & this is backed up by dog intelligence rankings where they hugely outperform gundogs like labrador particularly on ease of training.
Rotties are actually very easy to train. The difficult part is the "what's in it for me?" part when you're not holding a reward. For that, they need classical conditioning as well as operant conditioning. Most dog owners aren't willing to provide those kinds of corrections. And dogs that are aggressive – yes, guard dog / working breeds ARE AGGRESSIVE – require a certain level of firm handling. Their drive will determine how much but, a low-drive Rottie is still going to be more head-strong than a high-drive Lab.
Misperception is probably the biggest thing. Where i live everyone has pits or toy dogs. But i have always grown up with rotties. They have the best temperment. The girl i have now is my first girl and omgoodness I could love on her for hours. She is not a barker. Naturally protective and really good with the kids
Really …in my experience Rottweilers are not hard to train I have raised them and all were easily trained…my kangal on the other hand is a straight jerk lol
I really have the opposite feeling, when I see a Rottweiler I just want to go up and hug it. But then I have to remember they can maul my face off.
Rotties are actually pretty basic to train. They get hyper active and need lots of play time. If you keep that energy level in check with love and consistency, a Rottweiler will be your best friend.
Hard to train? My rottie is like 4 years old and trains much easier than my previous dog. Its still pretty basic commands but still not even that hard to train. He can sit, stay (for really really long times), search, jump, come back, and some other stuff.
Agreed, I was raised by rottweilers, I saw them severely struggling in training sessions, but they were extremely protective of our family, God forbid any of us would say 'ouch'
I call BS! I’ve had 4 Rotties. If you have 1/2 a brain and any real experience training dogs you should be just fine. I’m talking basic obedience. Now if if you’re talking ppd then you could run into some issues but if you have a good handle on obedience a lot of those issues are manageable.
This is a strange one, I’ve had loads of dogs and my Rottweiler was by far the easiest to train, a lot of other trainers mention how easy they are to train also
I made that mistake: I thought I was ready to own one, but I wasn't. Then, I studied hard reading books, watching videos , taking some courses. Today, my dear Dalilah is 90% obedient. My only problem is when her hunt mode is on, she doesn't obey the recall.

Mr rottie is an absolute delight. Trainable, sociable, lovable. The whole package!!! But he is an outlier in the breed, and I understand that 💯

Hard to train? Stubborn yes but definitely willing to train .
The worst thing is that it's a rottweiler. You cant trust them. Atleast based ob their look. 😂

High difficulty. Extremely high reward. A well trained Rottweiler is an absolutely marvel of a dog.

Rotts are the easiest to train. Super intelligent
People say there bad and dangerous just never owned one
I mean I managed to train and behave a chuawawa so I see why I managed to do it a lot easier training my rothweillers sofia & ruthdra😅
I gotta say I worked with a lot of dogs my German rottweilers were the easiest to train.
My cousin has a Rottweiler, sweetest dog I have ever met. Emotionally intelligent, very understanding, loves everyone.
My neighbor's dogs see him as a monster though, they were dead silent when he came over.
Rotties r my favorite doggie
